Master in Financial Technology Learning Goals
LG 1: Expert Knowledge and Understanding in Financial Technology
Graduates will draw upon expert knowledge and a broad, detailed, and critical understanding of both finance principles and core technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain. They will be able to analyze, structure, and evaluate complex financial technology situations and problems in various areas of the financial services industry. This expertise will enable them to shape innovative responses and independent ideas to business and research opportunities and challenges within the financial sector.
LG 2: Application of Foundational Fintech Knowledge to Develop Solutions
Graduates will have the ability to translate foundational fintech knowledge into actual products and solutions. They will effectively apply theoretical concepts to practical scenarios, designing and implementing fintech applications that address real-world financial needs and challenges. This includes proficiency in leveraging emerging technologies to enhance financial services and create value for stakeholders.
LG3: Leadership in Transforming the European Financial Services Industry
Graduates will support and lead the transformation of the European financial services industry in light of increased competition from non-financial actors. They will understand the evolving financial landscape, anticipate industry trends, and develop strategies to enhance competitiveness and innovation within traditional financial institutions. Graduates will furthermore be equipped to navigate regulatory environments and drive organizational change towards digitalization.
LG4: Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Financial Technology
Graduates will create innovative solutions and products in the fintech space and possess the entrepreneurial skills to turn them into successful companies. They will demonstrate the ability to identify market opportunities, develop business models, and execute startup strategies. This includes skills in fundraising, scaling operations, and managing fintech ventures effectively.

Classes are typically held on three intense days per week during term times at Frankfurt School's state of the art campus with the remaining days for self-study, personal, or professional development. Students in the Master in Financial Technology are an integral part of Frankfurt School's growing student body and several of the courses on the program are taken together with students in Frankfurt School's Master of Finance and Master in Applied Data Science.
The FSBC was founded by Professor Philipp Sandner. It is a think tank and research center focused primarily on investigating the implications of blockchain technology, and is focusing on central bank digital currencies, tokenisation of assets, decentralised finance (DeFi) and the foundations of financial infrastructure more broadly. In addition to research and prototype development, the FSBC serves as a networking hub for managers, start-ups, and experts to exchange knowledge and best practices. The FSBC also organises educational opportunities for students and executives, including on-campus courses, workshops, and conferences. Among others, the FSBC hosts the Crypto Assets Conference (CAC) and works closely with several venture capital firms to support entrepreneurship in the fintech space.

The mission of the Entrepreneurship Centre is to inspire, connect and provide training to Frankfurt School students as well as to external stakeholders such as investors, alumni, founders and partners. You can choose to take part in our Incubator for year-round guidance or boost your project by taking part in the Accelerator. You can also choose the Entrepreneurship module in semester 4 and make this specialisation part of your degree!
Students can choose in semester 4 from a wide range electives focused on finance, management, and data science related topics, giving them the opportunity to expand the depth of their Master programme and gain insights in addition to the primary topics in other areas of interest depending on their professional goals.

Our Master in FinTech offers a practical and engaging learning experience that connects theory with real-world applications. Each module is designed to help students first learn the core concepts and then apply them through hands-on activities. Small class sizes encourage interaction, and students develop the skills needed for a successful career in FinTech.
The programme includes face-to-face lectures and flexible self-study, making it easier for students to work part-time. The curriculum is well-structured, ensuring a manageable workload with ongoing support through digital resources. Teaching methods include case studies, workshops, guest speakers, and research projects. These activities help students link what they learn in the classroom with practical experiences, preparing them for the challenges of the FinTech industry.
Frankfurt School encourages students to participate in various challenges and competitions, throughout the year, allowing selected students to prove themselves and compete against other top universities worldwide.
The Master in FinTech programme is conducted exclusively in English. However, German language classes are offered to support non-German speaking students throughout their enrollment. We highly recommend students learn German prior to arriving in Frankfurt to enhance their employment prospects.
