Professor Benjamin Born has recently been appointed to two new positions in the field of macroeconomics.

Benjamin Born has joined the editorial team of the Journal of Monetary Economics, one of the leading journals in macroeconomic research. It publishes work on a wide range of modern macroeconomic topics, including research along empirical, methodological, and theoretical lines.

Starting January 2025, Professor Born will also serve on the Euro Area Business Cycle Dating Committee (EABCDC), a joint initiative of the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and the Euro Area Business Cycle Network (EABCN). This committee is responsible for analysing and dating business cycles in the euro area and providing bi-annual insights into the region’s economic activity.

Benjamin Born is Professor of Macroeconomics at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management — where he is affiliated with the Centre for Central Banking. His research interests lie in fiscal and monetary policy, business cycles, and heterogeneity. He has been published in journals such as the American Economic Review, the Journal of Political Economy, and the Journal of Monetary Economics. In addition, Professor Born is a research fellow at the CEPR and CESifo; and he currently serves as a research director at the ifo Institute’s Center for Macroeconomics and Surveys and an external consultant at the EU Commission’s DG ECFIN. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Bonn Graduate School of Economics.
