117 new students started this year in the part-time Master’s programmes Master in Corporate Performance & Restructuring, Master of Banking and Capital Markets Law, Master of Mergers & Acquisitions and Master in Data Analytics & Management. At the opening ceremony last Friday, the new students had the opportunity to get to know their fellow students and explore the Frankfurt School campus.
The ceremony was opened by Professor Ansgar Richter, Vice President Academic Affairs at Frankfurt School. He welcomed the new students in the mall of the Frankfurt campus and prepared them for an exciting and inspiring time in which they will grow both academically and personally.
The evening's guest speaker was Janis Steinfort, Frankfurt School alumnus Class of 2021 and Partner at Struktur Management Partner. A key message he gave the new students: “Don’t be afraid of uncertainty. University life—and life in general—will often feel unpredictable. There will be moments when you think you’ve got everything figured out, only to have life take an unexpected turn."
He also emphasised the importance of contacts and relationships with fellow students, the faculty and mentors: "Take the time to build meaningful connections. Don’t just network—connect. Listen to others, learn from their experiences, and share your own. The relationships you build here will form the foundation of your personal and professional life.”
Carl Mohtadi, a student in the Master's programme in Mergers & Acquisitions, also welcomed his fellow students and described first-hand what the Frankfurt School spirit is all about: “It is the ability to achieve academic goals with discipline and determination without losing sight of togetherness. It's the willingness to learn and work together and be there for each other, to grow personally and to create an environment where we can inspire and encourage each to get the best out of it and ultimately be the best academically and personally.”
The new students were able to experience this spirit during the subsequent interactive drum show, a traditional part of the Frankfurt School Opening Ceremonies. A relaxed buffet rounded off the opening ceremony and the students could make their first contacts in the Frankfurt school community.
