As of 1 September, Frankfurt School of Finance & Management has rented Bertramshof site from Hessischer Rundfunk for five years. The site is located in the Dornbusch district between Kaiser-Siegmund-Straße, Am Steinernen Stock and Bertramswiese. Thus, it is iin the immediate vicinity of Adickesallee, where Frankfurt School moved into its campus in 2017.
By renting this space, Frankfurt School is expanding its premises and accommodating its growth. When the business school moved to Adickesallee 32-34 in 2017, around 2,100 students were enrolled in the university's degree programmes, today there are almost 3,800.
The Bertramshof buildings are primarily intended as learning spaces and as a place for student engagement, for example through Frankfurt School's student initiatives. The area will also serve as a co-working space for Futury. Futury is the largest ecosystem for start-ups and sustainable entrepreneurship in the FrankfurtRhineMain metropolitan region and has nationwide appeal. Frankfurt School took over Futury in January 2024, making it one of the top German universities for start-ups.
“Frankfurt School is growing. This applies to the student body as well as to faculty and staff. Hessischer Rundfunk is an ideal partner to help us grow in terms of space,” says Professor Dr Nils Stieglitz, President and CEO of Frankfurt School. “Frankfurt School thrives on exchange and community. At Bertramshof, we are creating more space for precisely this. Here, our students can study together or spend time together outside of lectures. At the same time, our start-up ecosystem Futury will turn Bertramshof into a central hub for the local start-up community, where innovative and sustainable projects will be created together with other universities of the region.”
Florian Hager, Director General of Hessischer Rundfunk, adds: “We are delighted to be able to lease Bertramshof to our neighbor, Frankfurt School. Like Hessischer Rundfunk, it is firmly anchored in and with Frankfurt and the region.”
Luise von Rothschild had Bertramshof built in 1888 as a Meierhof with farm buildings, stables, barns and a water tower. Frankfurt School will now move into it in stages from October 2024. The daycare center “Kita im hr”, which is located on the site, will remain.
