Professor Dr Markus Reisinger, Professor of Industrial Economics and Microeconomics and Head of the Economics & Law Department at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, has been appointed as a member of the European Commission's Economic Advisory Group on Competition Policy (EAGCP). The appointment follows a proposal by the Chief Competition Economist of the European Commission, Lluís Saurí, and took effect on 16 September 2024 for a period of three years.

The EAGCP consists of 15 renowned academics from the research fields of industrial economics and competition policy. It advises the Chief Economist Team of the Directorate-General for Competition of the European Commission. The aim of the group is to strengthen and improve the economic reasoning in competition policy. The group brings together a wide range of expertise from various research institutions throughout Europe and North America.

“The EAGCP is an important advisory council to the Chief Economist Team of the European Commission on competition policy issues. It is an honour to be part of the EAGCP and I look forward to contributing my expertise in this important area,” says Professor Dr Markus Reisinger.

Professor Dr Markus Reisinger is Professor for Industrial Organization and Microeconomics at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management since August 2015.

Before joining Frankfurt School of Finance & Management he was Professor at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar (2011-2015). He was visiting researcher at the Institute of Industrial Economics (IDEI), University of Toulouse, the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, and the Booth School of Business, University of Chicago. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Munich, where he also did his undergraduate studies.

His research focuses on Industrial Economics and Competition Policy and has been published or is forthcoming in journals such as the Journal of Political Economy, the RAND Journal of Economics, Management Science and the Journal of Financial Economics.
