Developing ideas for a real estate start-up, writing a business plan and pitching to investors — this is what students learn in the new ‘Real Estate Entrepreneurship & PropTech Development’ elective, which has been offered to students on the Bachelor of Science programmes at Frankfurt School since January 2025. On 4 March, the first graduates of the elective impressively demonstrated how forward-looking their visions for the real estate industry are.
Innovative teaching methods and practice-oriented
Headed by Professor Kerstin Hennig, Professor of Management Practice in Real Estate, students learn not only the theoretical basics but also how to put their knowledge directly into practice. The students develop viable business plans, create marketing and financing strategies and formulate investment proposals. At the end of the elective, participants work in small groups to work out ideas for start-ups with a focus on sustainability, digitalisation or artificial intelligence in order to find innovative solutions for the future of the real estate industry. In addition to academic expertise, the elective is rounded off with expert lectures and an excursion to the Tech Quartier Frankfurt to give students an insight into the PropTech ecosystem.
